Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center

DP3 Architects provided planning, design, and construction administration services for the $10 million Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center. This new facility hosts Camp Spearhead and Camp Courage. The camp is centered around a 17,000-square-foot lodge incorporating meeting and dining facilities, administrative offices, and private sleeping suites.

Twelve single and double cabins are spread throughout the site to house 160 campers and staff. To round out the camp experience, the campus has a 10,500-square-foot open-air sports pavilion which includes a full-size basketball court, stage, concessions, rest rooms, and therapeutic/recreation swimming pool with zero-depth entry and spray pad/water play area.

The camp is located in the northern most portion of the South Carolina foothills just at the base of the Appalachian Mountains. Even with this mountainous terrain, the site is completely accessible and includes a lakeside amphitheater, accessible fishing pier, and passive and active recreation areas.
