The Club at Keowee Key Ranks 1st Place in The Carolinas
Club + Resort Business posted its list of “Top Ranked Clubhouses” and the Club at Keowee Key was awarded 1st place in North and South Carolina and 38th nationally.
We are proud to have played a role in this Clubhouse Renovation project that delivered a modern-day resort featuring sophisticated venues and diverse indoor/outdoor experiences, while capitalizing on the site views.
“The clubhouse floor plan promotes what we are…. which is the central hub of the community,” says Mary Davis, Club Director. “It satisfies every need with quality spaces for each. You can have an intimate dining in the Cascades or Overlook, a casual meal at The Bistro, large banquets, events or parties in the Vista, and a social dynamic in the Bar, Bar Terrace or on one of the patios simultaneously.”
Combining the bold makeover of the outdated Clubhouse with updating the adjacent golf course was the cornerstone for an ambitious community revitalization. This signaled the client’s intent to substantially elevate the lifestyle experience for current members while creating a major attraction for potential future owners. The objective was a completely reimagined facility infused with contemporary lifestyle and design trends that would speak to the community’s brand.
Modern design and pragmatic function were paramount elements in achieving the project goals. The cohesive design includes a peaked, wood-clad ceiling and expansive rock building façade with angular windows providing a dramatic, yet welcoming portico entrance. The disjointed layout and roofline, a residual of prior renovations, were reconfigured using a hip-roof truss system that not only provided an interconnected blueprint, but also created the opportunity to add the foyer’s towering ceiling and rock wall. These, and the stone-hued quartz reception counter, reflect the surrounding Blue Ridge mountains.
Dramatic rooflines; raised ceilings; open sightlines; and panoramic, indoor/outdoor components in every venue were all on the member must-have list. Expanding bar, dining, and kitchen capacity was vital, and included a desire for a newly conceived neighborhood café, a satellite ballroom bar, and reconfigured casual dining and bar areas. There was also a need for additional conference rooms, offices, and arts and crafts studio. The incorporation of practical, yet tasteful lighting, effective sound attenuation, protected access, and up-to-date audio-visual capability rounded out the owner’s list of needs.
The new facility vastly improves flow, functionality, operating efficiency, revenue generation, and member satisfaction. All of this was accomplished within the budget and, according to member surveys, has more than met members’ expectations.
