Tri-County Technical College Reaches Milestone in Oconee Hall Renovation

Tri-County Technical College marked the halfway point in renovating Oconee Hall with a ‘topping out’ ceremony on January 10, 2023. TCTC extended a warm welcome to the community, including representatives from DP3 Architects and Harper General Contractors. Key contributors to the project had the special opportunity to sign the final steel beam, which will now become an integral part of Oconee Hall’s structure.

The overhaul of this 34,000-square-foot academic building at TCTC’s Pendleton Campus involves gutting and renovating the three-story structure, adding new classrooms and offices, and expanding with a new 11,000-square-foot addition and drop-off area. The renovation will modernize the existing 200-seat auditorium with new equipment and AV capabilities and upgrade the mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems throughout the building.

The DP3 Architects team is utilizing higher education design strategies to encourage students to stay on campus and take advantage of several collaborative lounges and study spaces. Designing environments that encourage students to stay on campus is crucial to optimizing their educational experience, foster engagement, create a sense of community. Overall, the design draws inspiration from TCTC’s recent brand refresh and compliments the existing campus buildings.

DP3 Architects is thrilled to partner with Tri-County Technical College to create a space that will enhance it’s existing campus and where students and faculty can thrive for years to come The renovation is anticipated to be completed in late 2024.
