DP3 Architects, Ltd. Celebrates 30 Years in Business

DP3 Architects is celebrating 30 years of providing architectural services to the Upstate.

Founded by Samuel D. Justice, Mark S. Eggl, and J. Michael Taylor in 1984, DP3 Architects began in a residential basement with a passion and a vision for practicing architecture rooted in quality and service. It didn’t take long to settle into projects that suited the firm, and consequently their clients, best. Designing innovative and functional facilities in the community, higher education, and restaurant sectors continues to be the firm’s forte. J. Michael Taylor continues to lead the company with three partners, Margaretta L. Terry, Brian S. Thomas, and Benjamin R. Urueta.

Never focused on being the largest firm in the Upstate, DP3 aimed at cultivating a team whose talent, passion, and commitment represented that of its founding members. Having successfully navigated the great recession, DP3 Architects currently employs 25 team members at their headquarters in the historic Greenville Gas and Electric Light building on the National Register of Historic Places in Greenville, South Carolina. DP3 Architects has always believed that a firm must invest time and resources into building an incredible team. In today’s transient business climate of frequent career moves, DP3 is a firm where over 40% of its team members have chosen to stay for ten or more years. This stands as a testament to the team work and integrity DP3 Architects has developed over the last 30 years.

Going forward, DP3 Architects plans to continue to maintain and reinforce strong relationships with their clients and consultants. “Challenges have, and will always continue to present themselves,” said Founding and Managing Principal, J. Michael Taylor. “How we navigate solving those challenges is what determines our success.”

“We are thrilled to be celebrating our 30th year in business, said Taylor “But our focus will remain on our clients. At the end of the day, we are not successful unless we fulfill our clients’ goals and expectations. We do that by designing functional and sustainable buildings based on the needs of the people who will live and work in that design every day.”
