Donaldson Center Fire Station

Donaldson Center Fire Department
Greenville, SC

The Donaldson Center Fire Department has serviced the Donaldson Center, an industrial air park located in Greenville, SC for over 40 years. What was once an Airforce base in World War II, the center now supports 3M, Lockheed Martin, Solvay, and continues to work with the Army Reserve, National Guard, Air National Guard, Navy Reserve, and Marine Reserve units. The Donaldson Center Fire Department provides fire and life safety for 120 companies in the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center, home of the Lockheed Martin F-16.

DP3 Architects recently partnered with the Donaldson Center Fire Station to renovate and expand their existing Station 22, originally built in 1968 with later expansions in 1988 and 1995. This project included a new 4,500 square foot addition consisting of new dormitories, a dayroom, kitchen, and offices, along with minor renovations to the existing building to add firefighter support spaces and a new fitness center. The station houses both conventional landside municipal apparatus as well as airside ARFF apparatus. This station modernization ensures that the facility operates efficiently and safely, ultimately enhancing overall readiness and performance, while also providing firefighters with the resources and environment they need to perform their duties effectively while maintaining their health and well-being.
